The Last One

After nine years and three hundred eighty-eight blogs, this will be our last Rink Rats blog.

When asked what he will do next, Editor Reggie Dunlop said he plans to write a book, travel, teach at the University of Phoenix, and guest commentary for Fox News.

But Mr. Dunlop did not leave out the possibility of a Rink Rats movie in the future.

POTUS NINETEENTH HOLE – After completing a round of golf at his Mar-a-Lago golf resort, scoring an even par seventy-two (really?). The President’s golf partners this round were Kid Rock, Michael Avenatti, and Grigor Andolov.

President Donald Trump held a brief question and answer session with local reporters.

While sipping on a virgin strawberry daiquiri, President Trump announced that Robert Mueller, who recently completed his special counsel work for the Department of Justice, will become, effective July 1, 2019, the Ambassador to Russia.

COLLEGE CHRONICLES – Faber College Dean Vernon Wormer announced this week that effective July 1, 2019 all Adjunct Faculty at Faber College will become full-time tenured Faculty. Concurrently, effective July 1, all full-time tenured Faculty will become Adjunct Faculty at Faber College.

WHAT’S ON THE iPHONE? – five songs we are listening to today:

1). “Fool on the Hill”, 1967 – The Beatles
2). “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, 1971 – The Who
3). “Chain of Fools”, 1968 – Aretha Franklin
4). “What a Fool Believes”, 1979 – Doobie Brothers
5). “Foolin”, 1983 – Def Leppard

MARKET WEEK – Investments to watch:

1).  There are more ideas today than ever. But sometimes, there can be too much information -- information that's upsetting because it doesn't align with what we believe in. No worries: EchoChambər searches your entire internet history to block out ideas you don't agree with and replace them with ideas you'll love.

You need never encounter another uncomfortable idea again. EchoChambər can help you find your truth.

The lesson? Human beings have a tendency to avoid information we don't like and to seek out ideas we already agree with, leading to overconfidence and poor decision-making in investing and everyday life. But none of us is right about everything. Each of us could do a better job seeking out alternative views and applying more skepticism toward what we believe.

2). Life is mostly about investing in yourself by making financial decisions that are right for you. But there isn't enough time in the day to learn the most basic data points about ourselves. We live busy lives and have better things to do than introspection.

Heimskingi™, the world's first home financial assistant, handles all of your financial and personal transactions in one, convenient location. Heimskingi's™ always-on technology, powerful Deep Monitoring techniques, and sleek Icelandic form are designed to meet your needs -- not Wall Street's. Just don't pay attention to the fine print...

Heimskingi™'s features were equal-parts invasive and predatory. Besides its patented "Always-On Technology®", Heimskingi™ came equipped with fees, fees, fees, everywhere, from its automatic margin program, to "stop-loss overdraft protection."

The lesson? Fees on your retirement savings may not be very visible, but they can have a big impact on how much money you'll have in retirement.

TOP MOVIES TO WATCH:

1). “Nobody’s Fool” (Paul Newman, Melanie Griffith, Bruce Willis), 1994
2). “Fool’s Gold” (Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson), 2008
3). “The Singing Fool” (Al Jolson), 1928
